Episcopal Visit to Church of the Resurrection, Edmonton, Alberta

The Episcopal visit of Archbishop Shane B. Janzen, OSG, DD, Primate of the Traditional Anglican Church; Metropolitan, Anglican Catholic Church of Canada; Bishop Ordinary, Diocese of Canada West; to the Parish of the Church of the Resurrection, Edmonton, Alberta, June 20-22, 2026.

On the Saturday evening Archbishop Janzen, along with Fr. Davis the Priest-in-Charge of the parish, were welcomed into the home of one of the parishioners. Joining them were members of the congregation who were able to be present for the supper. The Episcopal visit was kicked off with wonderful food, great conversations and a good time for all.

At the Sunday service, Archbishop Janzen was the celebrant of the Mass and preacher, with Fr. Jeffery BeBeau, as the Deacon of the Mass. Fr. Jeffery serves as the Assistant Curate of the Parish. Fr. Davis was the Reader for the Old Testament lesson and the Epistle.

During his sermon the Archbishop spoke about Anglicanism; the importance of being evangelists in our larger communities; and the fullness of our worship services. An excerpt from the sermon:

“When we pray together in services of worship, our ‘common prayers’ are liturgical, that is, they are structured – based on the Book of Common Prayer. Our liturgical worship involves the whole person – body, mind, and spirit. We are active participants rather than just listeners; we are a congregation of believers not an audience to be entertained.”

In true Anglican form, the post-Mass fellowship time saw people enjoying various goodies and more importantly, time for further conversations with the Archbishop and each other.
